“NEW” KAYAK/SUP RENTAL PROGRAM

Beginning May 1, 2024, visitors to Infirmary Mound Park (4351 Lancaster Rd., Granville, OH 43023) will be able to rent kayaks and SUPs (stand up paddle boards).

The Licking Park District has partnered with Rent.Fun for this new App driven venture. The kayak/SUP rental station is located between Shelter #6 and Mirror Lake. Users can either paddle on Mirror Lake or transport their unit in their vehicle to their preferred lake or river.

Reservations are not accepted. Kayaks and SUPs are available on a first come – first served basis.

The Licking Park District has (2) kayak/canoe launches along the Licking River.

Riverview Reserve:
375 Ohio Street, Newark, OH 43055 (near Don Edwards Park)

Staddens Landing:
11059 Staddens Bridge Road, Newark, OH 43055

RENTAL FEE:

$25 for a 2-hour minimum rental
$15/hour for any hour thereafter

OR

$50/entire day
*Keep in mind that Infirmary Mound Park is open from dawn to dusk.

Steps

  1. Download the App (Rent.Fun) and create an account.
  2. To unlock the locker, Scan the QR Code on the locker. Paddle and lifejackets are included.
  3. Remove your equipment and inspect the equipment for any damage.
  4. Enjoy your paddle. Wear your lifejacket at all times while on the water.
  5. When you’re done, return your equipment back to the same locker unit. Select “End Rental” in the App to unlock your locker.

BASIC RULES

  • Do not leave valuables in lockers.
  • You must be 18 years or older to use the Rent.Fun equipment.
  • Maximum of one person per kayak or SUP, and no pets allowed.
  • Alcohol is strictly prohibited.
  • You must wear a lifejacket at all times.

SAFETY TIPS

  • Check the weather. Do NOT rent if there is lightning, rain or high winds.*
  • Stay out of the way of other boats.*
  • Bring a means of communication, such as a cell phone in a plastic bag.*
  • Always boat with a friend.
  • Wear a lifejacket at all times, regardless of temperature or your swimming ability.
  • Tell a family member what you are doing, where you will be paddling and what time you expect to be done. Contact the person when you are done with your trip.
  • Do not overload or unevenly load your boat.
  • If the water looks too hazardous to swim, DON’T boat in it.
  • Carry plenty of drinking water and sunscreen.
  • Stay updated on changing weather and water conditions.
  • Never boat on flooded rivers.
  • Avoid strainers and obstructions such as overhanging branches, downed trees and log jams.
  • Carry a cell phone and a whistle.
