Licking Park District: R.A.D. Self-Defense Class for Women


GRANVILLE, OHIO (February 2, 2024) The Licking Park District has partnered with the Newark Police Dept to teach women realistic self-defense tactics. The acronym R.A.D. is short for Rape Aggression Defense. This is a women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance while progressing to the basics of hands-on defense training.

This course is taught by nationally trained instructors. The R.A.D. system is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts & techniques against various forms of assault by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. The class will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 (10:00 am – 3:00 pm) at the Licking County Library (101 W. Main Street, Newark, OH 43055). Cost of the class is $10.

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to take the class, or a minimum of 16 years of age if accompanied by a parent. Registration is limited to the first 15 registrants. Women can register at www.lickingparkdistrict.com. For questions, contact the Licking Park District at 740-587-2535.
