Intro to Falconry with the Ohio School of Falconry

Group Size: Up to 12 participants and 20 observers

Minimum age: 9 for participants (all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult)

Learn about this most ancient of sports, as you handle and fly one of our trained hawks to your glove! As a result of participating in this course, you will learn…

  • about the history of falconry, its origins and growth throughout the ages.
  • about the important role that raptors (hawks, eagles, owls and falcons) play in their ecosystems and Falconry’s key role in raptor conservation efforts.
  • the Five Skills of the Falconer (the basic skills that falconers use every day when trapping, training, and hunting, with their birds) as you work “hands-on” with one of our hawks.
