Virtual Night Tree Storytime and Crafts at Home

December 18, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Please join us for this family friendly activity. This year we are doing it a little differently. Participants will pick up a kit filled with wildlife friendly ornament making supplies on December 17th at Infirmary Mound Park. On Friday they will be emailed a link to a prerecorded reading of the wonderful children’s book the Night Tree by Eve Bunting. The story features a family whose annual tradition is traveling to their chosen tree in the woods to decorate it for the animals. The program kit will include the materials needed to start your own tradition of decorating your own wildlife tree, with a few materials provided by the participant (see below). There will be additional ornament making demonstrations on Youtube. The videos will be available all weekend, so participants can choose when they want to listen to the story, create their ornaments, enjoy their hot chocolate, and venture out to decorate their tree! If you do not have a tree in your yard, you can come to Infirmary Mound park and decorate our wildlife trees, one of the small spruce trees near Shelter 3!

Households will need to provide:

A needle large enough to thread a thicker string, but small enough to thread popcorn

A type of natural peanut butter or sunbutter. Please make sure the ingredients are only peanuts if using peanut butter!

Scissors, spoons, knives for cutting oranges and apples, bowls
