**The Panhandle Trail (Dayton Rd to Felumlee Rd) will be CLOSED on MONDAY April 22 for herbicide spraying. **TJE Trail east of Granville between the cemetery and Rotary Bridge/Raccoon Valley Park due to bank slip; **There will be periodic closures April 22-26, dawn to dusk, on the TJ Evans Bike Trail from Concord Rd (Johnstown) to the cemetery area in Granville east of Main St for hazardous tree removal. Trails at Taft Reserve, Infirmary Mound Park and Lobdell Reserve are CLOSED to HORSES due to conditions unsuitable for equine traffic. Bike Trails: TJ Evans Trail between Newark and Granville: The TJ Evans bike trail will be CLOSED at the new Thornwood Crossing bridge area, Mon-Fri, 7a-5p, until further notice. There will be other, temporary closures intermittently over the following few months, during working hours (7A-5P; M-F). When: Thursdays, July 7th, 14th, 21st @ 9 -11 AM, Saturday, July 30th @ 9 – 11 AM
July 7th and 14th will focus on Japanese Knotweed at Riverview Preserve.
Invasive plants can take over quickly. Removing them helps support biodiversity in the ecosystem. Volunteers will be shown how to identify invasives and learn best practices for removal using hand tools and herbicide. Tools and gloves will be provided for volunteers. Please wear long pants and close toed shoes. The activity level will be moderate; volunteers will be walking, bending down, and using hand tools.
