2021 Volunteer of the Year – Jack Long
GRANVILLE, OHIO (March 22, 2022) The Licking Park District’s Volunteer of the Year award recognizes individuals who exhibit enthusiasm for their volunteer service, leadership characteristics for the projects they lead, and willingness to promote volunteerism in others. The Licking Park District is proud to name Jack Long as our Volunteer of the Year for 2021!
Jack Long began volunteering in 2018 when he completed the Ohio Certified Naturalist Certification. Always going above and beyond, Jack participated in advanced training for his archery instructor certification and manages our archery trailer during events. Jack is a patient and fun instructor, enthusiastic about helping kids develop proper techniques. Jack volunteers for every paddlesport opportunity and has engaged and inspired people of all ages to learn more about kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding. Jack contributed his considerable carpentry skills to building a desk and shelves for our office and helped put a new roof on our Taft Reserve restroom. He regularly volunteers for citizen science, special events, programs, conservation stewardship, and trail maintenance projects.
We appreciate all of Jack’s outstanding contributions to the Licking Park District. Congratulations to our 2021 Volunteer of the Year!

Licking Park District’s Mission
The mission of the Licking Park District (LPD) is to acquire, manage, preserve, and conserve natural areas within Licking County, while protecting wildlife and local history in a manner that enriches our communities and provides access to diverse parks, educational opportunities, and health and wellness activities.
The Licking Park District manages over 1,600 acres of parkland on 12 sites and manages over 46 miles of paved multi-use trails across Licking County.
