Landscape for Life at the Licking County Library Newark
December 11, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Are you someone that would like to learn more about how to manage your yard sustainably? Fall and winter can be a great time to plan for the coming spring! We will be partnering with the Newark Licking County Library and Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District to offer a 4 class series from Dec 11 – Dec 14 called Landscape for Life™. This interactive learning series will cover soils, water practices, plants practices, sustainable materials, pollinators, and maintenance. Each class will have “homework” intended to help you plan your yard. Our gardens have the potential to build healthy, productive landscapes, leading to incredible benefits. The Landscape for Life program was developed to help homeowners harness the power of nature by creating gardens that work, offering essential benefits such as water storage and filtration, habitat for wildlife, and energy-savings through cooling. Learn how you can create a great-looking property that’s healthier for you and the environment and that saves time and money. Participants will receive a comprehensive student manual and information on local resources! Start planning now for your gardening plans next spring!
This free program is part of the library’s lifelong learning series, Empowered Minds. The focus of this signature service is healthy aging and enrichment for the retirement-age citizens of Licking County. All adults are welcome. Empowered Minds is supported by a sustaining gift from Robert Trimble Jr., a lifelong learner, and, in part, by Licking County Senior Levy.
