Canceled Art in the Parks: Eco-printing – Dyeing with Botanicals

June 27 @ 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Join Artist Pat Kresty for one of our popular eco-printing workshops! This workshop will explore the process of dyeing fabric using plant material known as botanical or eco-dyeing. The goal is to extract colors from leaves and other natural materials through contact dyeing. The dyeing process creates a transfer of pigments from the plant material to fiber.  We will be creating a silk scarf using plant material we collect from the park grounds. This class will also explore the effect of iron and tannin when added to the process. Plant choices and bundling methods that help produce clear and colorful prints will be described. At the end of the day you will have a beautiful one of kind art scarf. Participants may also experiment with some samples  time permitting.

This class is appropriate for beginners as well as experienced dyers.

Registration opens May 15th
