African Hand Drumming Class

June 10 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Cost:  Suggested donation of $10

Ages: 16 and up

The Licking Park District is excited to announce that we are hosting Lawrence Greene to teach monthly African Drumming classes at Infirmary Mound Park!

For over 12 years, Lawrence has taught African drumming classes and workshops in Ohio and West Virginia. In his classes, Lawrence hopes to foster a sense of togetherness for the participants and bring people together over a shared activity they might never have imagined themselves doing. Group drumming is a great way to relieve stress and find a sense of balance. This class will focus on traditional West African rhythms.

“It really is just something that, even traditionally, just builds community when you’re all sharing a cultural activity together,” Lawrence says.

Join us for a fun exploration of djembe and other drums, intro, history, technique and rhythm. No experience necessary. All are welcome. Instruments provided if you do not have your own.
