2019 Educator Workshop: Citizen Science in the Classroom
July 10 @ 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Join the Licking Park District, Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District, and The Dawes Arboretum for a series of educator workshops in 2019. All workshops start at 8:30am and end by 4pm. Graduate and Step Up to Quality credits available. Space is limited; pre-registration is required for all workshops.
Citizen science enables all of us to collectively manage the health and well-being of ourselves and our planet. Whether teaching in the outdoors, in a traditional classroom, or in both, educators and students really can contribute to authentic scientific research through field studies and investigations. The Citizen Science workshop focuses on making project-based learning accessible in any setting. Using scientific methods, critical thinking, technology, and our senses, educators learn how to bring the classroom into nature. Fun and diverse activities cover topics such as ant investigations, micro hike with macro lenses, and nature journals.
