In September of this year, the Licking Park District paved an 8,400′ section of the T. J. Evans Trail. This was the first year of a 3-year paving project that will occur on paved bike trails throughout the County. Paving will also occur in 2016 and 2017. This overlay will improve sections of the trail that need the most repair.
This year’s paving overlay was done on the section of the trail west of Granville, starting at Moots Run Road, and traveling west toward Alexandria. This work made it to the second bridge in this direction. The work was completed by Triple H Enterprises of Newark.
When work started on this project, it was noted upon inspection that the second bridge was in need of repair in order for equipment to be able to travel over it. The park district staff completed a 10′ repair (about 1/2 the bridge), which included main support beams, underlayment, and bridge decking. The remainder of the bridge supported the paving equipment, but is still scheduled for repair later this year.
We appreciate all of those that use the trails for recreation and fitness. If you have any concerns about the bike trails, please feel free to contact the Licking Park District at 740.587.2535.
